The London dinner of the Belfast Royal Academy Former Pupils was attended by 70 Old Boys and Old Girls and their Guests.
The Guest Speaker was Dr Loraine Craig, Associate Dean in the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London. Dr Craig, after outlining her career progression on leaving BRA, proposed the toast to the School.
The Principal, Mrs Hilary Woods, responded on behalf of BRA, outlining the many significant achievements in the School over the last twelve months.
Tributes were paid to Professor James Stirling, the Guest Speaker twelve months previously, who passed away late last year.
The President of BRA OBA, Professor Robert McIlhagger, acted as Master of Cermonies on behalf of the Old Boys’ and Old Girls’ Associations.
The evening was enjoyed by all.
Thanks are due the Dr Louis Campbell and David Haslett for organising the event.
The meeting of the Christmas Luncheon Club was held at the Knock Golf Club on Monday 17th December 2018.
An excellent attendance of 67 was present.
The President paid a short tribute to Mr Roy Henderson to celebrate his 100th birthday. Roy thanked the members for their kind thoughts.

The Annual Dinner of the Old Boys' Association will be held on Saturday 3rd November 2018.
As last year, the venue will be the Europa Hotel in Great Victoria Street, Belfast commencing at 7.00 for 7.30 pm..
Mr Philip McKenna will propose the Toast to ‘The School’.
Mrs Hilary Woods, (Principal) will reply to the Toast to ‘The School’.
Professor Robert McIlhagger (President) will propose the Toast to ‘The Guests’.
Councillor Brian Bloomfield, MBE, will respond to the Toast to ‘The Guests’.
This is an opportunity for members and their friends to enjoy a social evening, renew old friendships and establish new contacts.
It is hoped that there will be a good attendance.

Careers Breakfast at School
On April 19the Breakfast Club met at the school for a speed networking event. Nine guest speakers provided career advice on various areas of expertise. 38 students moved around to to hear from a selection of advice. Everyone shared a buffet breakfast.
The event was opened my the Principal, Mrs Hilary Woods and hosted by Martin Blake, President of the BRA OBA.
Following our very successful BRA Business Breakfasts in 2017 we have decided to hold a Business Lunch to give those past pupils, who are unable to attend early morning events, the opportunity to attend. This event will take place on Thursday 1st February from 12.30 until 2pm.
We are also having a change of venue, with this being held in the Europa Hotel, Piano bar area.
Otherwise the format will be the same. An opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make some new connections and enjoy food (a two course meal) and interesting presentations.
We are pleased that Mark Regan, CEO of Kingsbridge Private Hospital and Ms Sam Sloan, Consultant Surgeon will be speaking. They have a wealth of experience in business and particularly in the business of health.

The President, Martin Blake welcomed 180 guests to the Annual Dinner which was held in the Europa Hotel on Saturday 4th November 2017.
After an excellent dinner, Mr Mark Orr QC proposed the toast to the School. Mrs Hilary Woods, in her first speech at an Old Boys' Dinner, thanked the Association for its support and gave an overview of the past school year. The Lord Kerr of Tonaghmore, ended the formal proceedings with a speech on behalf of the guests thanking the Association for its generous hospitality.
